YEAR IN REVIEW

MAYOR'S MESSAGE

Dear McAllen Citizens & Friends,

We have much to be proud of for what was accomplished in 2017. We launched the Amigos Always campaign to strengthen our relationship with Mexico; welcomed new homeowners to the master-planned development of Tres Lagos in north McAllen; celebrated the McAllen Convention Center’s 10th anniversary; and provided affordable Wi-Fi to make learning accessible at home for students through a partnership with McAllen ISD and AT&T.

With all of these accomplishments there is one that I’m most proud of, and it is our efforts in making McAllen a Safe and Sound City. Although many cities experienced an increase in violent crime, McAllen did not experience this trend. This is a result of our Police Department’s leadership and positive relationship between our citizens and the officers entrusted with the security and protection of this city, and we continue to build upon this relationship.

JIM DARLING, MAYOR
